Server platforms and FlashSystem storage
IBM covers two infrastructure layers for us. The first is server platforms for mission-critical enterprise systems, where fault tolerance and predictable performance requirements exceed those of a standard server farm.
The second and primary one is IBM FlashSystem storage. These are enterprise all-flash arrays for databases, virtualized environments and mixed workloads. Arrays are selected against the capacity, performance figures and availability level stated in the technical specification.
FlashSystem is regularly used in projects that include a recovery site: replication between the primary and secondary array is designed into the architecture from the outset, along with failover scenarios and the bandwidth requirements for the inter-site link.
